Digital skills alone aren't enough anymore to prepare new generations for the job market. The global economy is shifting towards a model that values innovation, turning ideas into products, and having an entrepreneurial mindset to create projects and opportunities. This shift has pushed the EdTech sector to redefine its role, moving from just providing knowledge to building future-ready skills.
In this exciting context, Takumi emerges as an Egyptian EdTech startup. Its goal is to bridge the gap between traditional education and the demands of the digital economy. It does this through a unique model that combines technology education, entrepreneurship, and hands-on application. The aim is to prepare children and young people to become product makers and company founders in the future, not just users of modern technology.
The platform is built on a core idea: entrepreneurship isn't just a skill you pick up after entering the job market. Instead, it's a mindset that can be developed from an early age through practical experiences that mimic the startup world, encouraging students to think about solutions and turn ideas into actionable projects.
From Idea to Startup
Takumi's journey began in 2024, even before its official founding in 2025. It was started by Ahmed El-Bakry, a computer science graduate from the Japanese University, who brought previous experience in project execution, education, and training.
The platform was established after about two years of research and experimentation to develop a different educational model. This model doesn't rely on traditional courses but instead focuses on building a comprehensive experience that helps students discover their abilities, develop innovative thinking skills, and understand how to build startups.
Takumi's founder believes that the main challenge today isn't just teaching children programming languages or technical tools. It's about preparing a generation that can think like entrepreneurs and has the tools to turn ideas into real products and solutions.
A Business Model Beyond Traditional Education
Takumi offers a model that blends education, entertainment, and practical experience. Students embark on a learning journey based on interaction and practice, allowing them to learn entrepreneurial skills in a way that feels more like games and real-world experiments.
The platform targets children and young people aged 6 to 18. It focuses on developing a range of skills, including entrepreneurial thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, digital product development, and building project prototypes.
The experience isn't limited to theory. Students work on actual projects, transforming ideas into digital applications and products. This moves them from simply understanding knowledge to actively using it to build new solutions.
Early Reach and Educational Partnerships
Since its launch, Takumi has successfully reached over 2,000 students from 15 different countries. It has also developed collaborations with more than 15 international schools, benefiting from the growing interest of educational institutions in developing future skills for students.
The platform has also participated in several entrepreneurship-related initiatives and events, including the “Ahyaaha” initiative, which aimed to train 100 students, alongside other programs designed to spread a culture of innovation and build digital capabilities among youth.
Regarding geographical expansion, Takumi has started activities in Egypt and Palestine and aims to expand into Jordan in the coming period. This is part of a plan to reach new Arab markets where the company sees a large base of young talent.
Partnership with Replit to Move Students to Product Building
Takumi's journey saw a significant development through its partnership with the global software development platform Replit, one of the leading names in application building and programming.
This partnership allows students to use world-class development tools, helping them transition from learning technology to actually building real digital applications and products. This strongly reinforces Takumi's education model, which is based on execution and practice.
This partnership is one of the most important strategic steps for the Egyptian platform. It connects students with the global software development environment and supports Takumi's direction towards building a community of young innovators capable of competing in the digital economy.
In the next phase, the company plans to launch joint programs and initiatives focusing on applied entrepreneurship education, digital product development, building tech communities, and supporting young founders in the early stages of their projects.
Self-Funding and Plans to Attract New Investments
Since its inception, Takumi has relied on its own revenues and personal investments from the founders. However, recently, it has started reaching out to angel investors and investment groups to support its upcoming growth phase.
According to the company's founder, the platform received more than one investment offer. However, it rejected some offers that didn't align with its vision, especially those that focused on full acquisition and turning the company into a purely commercial project. Takumi remains committed to maintaining content quality and educational impact.
The company is currently discussing a six-figure investment deal, expected to be finalized before the end of the year. This new funding will be directed towards developing the platform's technological infrastructure, strengthening its presence in the Egyptian market, and supporting regional expansion plans.
Betting on the Arab Digital Education Market
Takumi aims to become one of the leading platforms in the Arab region for teaching entrepreneurship to children and youth. It's leveraging the global growth of the EdTech market and the increasing demand for programs that focus on practical skills rather than just theoretical knowledge.
The company's vision is centered on building a new generation of Arab entrepreneurs by providing an educational and technological environment that helps young talents develop their ideas and turn them into competitive projects and products.
As the job market rapidly transforms due to technology and artificial intelligence, Takumi is betting that early investment in an innovation and entrepreneurship mindset will be one of the most crucial tools for preparing future generations for an economy increasingly reliant on knowledge and skills.
