Sahl App: A New Digital Way for Egyptians Abroad to Pay Bills

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Planning have really stepped up their game in digital transformation for services offered to Egyptians living abroad. They've just launched an exciting new service that lets you pay bills and financial obligations electronically through the "Sahl" app! This move is all about making daily transactions easier for citizens living outside Egypt and expanding digital government services. It's a fantastic way to boost financial inclusion and help Egyptians feel even more connected to their homeland. Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, along with Dr. Ahmed Rostom, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol. This agreement was made between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Delta Misr for Payments, the company behind "Sahl," which the National Investment Bank also contributes to. The main goal? To improve how digital services are delivered to Egyptians working abroad, making it quicker and more efficient for them to access government services. This protocol specifically aims to make it possible for Egyptians abroad to pay various bills and financial commitments, including utility bills and other services, right through the "Sahl" app and the company's digital platform. Plus, it promises high levels of efficiency and security for all electronic transactions. The signing of this protocol was one of several cooperation agreements that took place during the seventh "Conference for Egyptians Abroad." This conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, ran from August 2nd to 3rd, 2026, under the theme "No matter how far we travel, Egypt brings us closer." Many ministers, officials, members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and representatives from national institutions attended. Ambassador Nabil Habashy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, and Major General Hazem Saafan, Chairman of Delta Misr for Payments "Sahl," were the ones who officially signed the protocol. Dr. Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, shared that digital transformation is a key part of improving government services and making them better for citizens. He pointed out that the government is actively using modern technology to offer easier and more efficient services to Egyptians both inside and outside the country. This is all in line with the political leadership's directives to modernize the administrative apparatus and move towards smart services. He explained that this cooperation protocol really shows how different state institutions are working together with national companies in the financial technology sector. The aim is to enhance the services provided to Egyptians abroad, allowing them to securely and quickly pay various financial obligations, utility bills, and other services electronically from anywhere in the world. Dr. Rostom added that Egyptians abroad are a crucial pillar in Egypt's national development journey. This motivates the state to expand its offerings of advanced digital services that meet their needs and strengthen their ongoing connection to Egypt. He emphasized that this collaboration helps build a connected and easily accessible government system, which aligns perfectly with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 and supports both digital transformation and financial inclusion. Finally, Dr. Rostom affirmed that the Ministry of Planning will continue to boost coordination and integration with various national entities. They will also leverage the capabilities and expertise available within the ministry's affiliated bodies to support comprehensive economic development efforts and enhance the efficiency of digital government services.
