In line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's drive to boost innovation, entrepreneurship, and the shift towards a knowledge-based economy, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) has announced an open call for business accelerators. They're invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EoI) to participate in the AgriTech4Egypt project, which focuses on technological innovation in Egypt's food and agriculture sector. This exciting project is part of a three-year national program, brought to life by the Bioversity International and CIAT alliance. It's fully funded by the Italian government through the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). ASRT is partnering with the Agricultural Research Center, taking on the crucial role of the national coordinating and implementing partner. The project aims to develop innovative and sustainable technological solutions to address the challenges facing Egypt's agricultural sector. It plans to do this by supporting startups and enhancing the efficiency of agricultural production and value chains, ultimately contributing to food security and achieving sustainable development goals. The participating business accelerators will be responsible for designing and running a comprehensive program that includes three main innovation challenges. They'll also support up to 105 teams from both inside and outside Egypt, offering mentorship, technical assistance, and facilitating connections with investors and industry partners. Plus, they'll help with market validation and scaling up these innovative solutions. ASRT requires applicants to be registered in Egypt and have a strong presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. They should also have proven experience in managing similar acceleration programs, providing comprehensive support services to startups, and specialized expertise in agricultural technology, along with extensive partnership networks.
