Egypt's Communications Minister Meets Amazon to Boost AI and Cloud Investments

Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Raafat Hendy, met with officials from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to discuss the company's plans to expand its investments in Egypt. These investments cover cloud computing, data centers, and artificial intelligence. This meeting brought together the Minister with Chris Erasmus, AWS General Manager for the Middle East, North Africa, and UAE, and Mohamed Shanawany, the company's regional manager. The Minister announced the meeting on his Facebook page. During the meeting, they reviewed updates on computing infrastructure projects that enable AWS to provide its services within the Egyptian market. They also discussed opportunities to build specialized infrastructure for AI applications and support data centers. Engineer Raafat Hendy emphasized Egypt's strong interest in boosting investments in these sectors, seeing them as fundamental pillars for building an innovation-driven digital economy.
