Egypt's Supply Ministry Speeds Up Subsidy Appeals: Update Your Data at Post Offices and Online

The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is making it easier for citizens to appeal decisions related to social justice criteria for 2026. They're doing this by letting people fill out data update forms at 500 post offices across Egypt, working closely with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This move aims to simplify procedures for citizens and speed up the review of applications. Don't worry, the service will still be available online through the Egypt Digital Platform too! The Ministry explained that filling out this data update form is a key step for citizens who were removed from the subsidy system and wish to appeal. This new service will be available every Friday and Saturday, starting July 24, 2026. On Fridays, you can visit from 2 PM to 9 PM, and on Saturdays, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Of course, the Egypt Digital Platform remains open for service all week long.

500 Post Offices to Make Data Updates Easier

Dalia El-Baz, Chairperson of the National Post Authority, confirmed that the Authority has fully prepared 500 post offices in all governorates to welcome citizens. Staff have been trained on how to provide the service and help with data update forms, ensuring the process is smooth and efficient. She added that this collaboration with the Ministry of Supply is part of the Authority's role in supporting the government's efforts to make it easier for citizens to access government services and expand the ways they can get them.

Completing Appeals at Supply Offices

The Ministry of Supply noted that after updating their data, whether at a post office or through the Egypt Digital Platform, citizens should then take their supporting documents (proving their eligibility for subsidies) to one of the 1085 supply offices or 412 developed service centers nationwide. This is where they'll complete the appeal process and have their documents reviewed according to the approved rules. The Ministry emphasized that it has instructed supply directorates in all governorates to provide every possible convenience to those appealing. They should accept all documents that prove a citizen's right to receive subsidies, stressing that the right to appeal is guaranteed for anyone who believes they are entitled to benefit from the subsidy system.

A Daily Committee to Decide on Requests

To speed things up even more, the Ministry explained that, following directives from Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, a special committee has been formed. This committee meets daily to examine and decide on all appeals, ensuring that cases are reviewed quickly and decisions are made according to the established rules and standards. The Ministry also mentioned that citizens will be notified of the appeal results as soon as they are finalized. This will happen via an SMS message sent to their registered mobile phone number, which helps improve communication speed and transparency in announcing the outcomes.

Only 1.5% of Appeals So Far

The Ministry confirmed that the applicant is responsible for the accuracy of their data and documents. All applications are reviewed based on official state databases, ensuring fairness and transparency in decision-making. It was also noted that the percentage of appeals submitted since the appeals window opened on June 14, 2026, has not exceeded 1.5% of the total cases affected by the social justice criteria. The Ministry sees this low percentage as a sign of the high accuracy of targeting and the effectiveness of the social justice standards, as well as the reliance on updated government databases. They also reiterated that every citizen's right to have their case re-examined is guaranteed, provided they submit proof of their eligibility.
