Engineer Ashraf Sabry, the founder and CEO of Fawry, is participating today, Wednesday, in a panel discussion titled 'AI's Turning Point in Egypt: Founders vs. Investors in the Race to Scale.' This session is part of the startup program accompanying the AI Everything Egypt 2026 conference.

The discussion will focus on the critical juncture Egypt's startup ecosystem is currently facing. Founders increasingly believe that capital is more readily available, while investors are adopting more cautious funding policies. The session will also explore the depth of local talent, the expanding uses of artificial intelligence, and rising ambitions, all while confronting challenges related to funding gaps, execution capabilities, and infrastructure.

A central question the session will address is Egypt's readiness to launch and expand widely in the field of artificial intelligence, especially given the ongoing caution and anticipation amidst current economic and investment changes.

Joining Ashraf Sabry in the discussion are Abdelrahman Mansour, CEO of Egypt Ventures; Karima El Hakim, Partner at Africa Plug and Play Tech Center; and Basma Rady, Chief Data Scientist at Beltone Holding and Managing Director of Robin. The session will be moderated by Chris Wadia, founder of Tech Emirates Advocates, aiming to shed light on the dynamics of funding and innovation in AI within Egypt.
