Egypt's Water Ministry Powers Up Water Management with Digital Transformation and AI

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is really speeding up its efforts to build a complete digital system for managing water resources. This is all part of a bigger strategy aimed at boosting operational efficiency, strengthening governance, and making sure decisions are based on solid data. The Minister explained that these digital solutions are being rolled out across all different parts of the Ministry. This includes operating and maintaining water facilities, managing water distribution networks, tracking project implementation, monitoring for encroachments, and managing assets. All of this helps improve how well the institution performs, makes the most of available resources, and supports the sustainable management of every single drop of water. Dr. Sewilam directed everyone to keep expanding digital transformation applications across all ministry sectors. He also urged them to quickly finish the ongoing digitization projects and work towards integrating different databases, information systems, and applications. This will create an accurate and up-to-date information base that supports decision-making and boosts the efficiency of water resource management. Finally, he stressed how important it is to invest in people. He sees human capital as one of the main pillars for successful digital transformation. This means continuing training programs and building skills to use these modern technologies.
