Stream Secures $5.2M to Transform Saudi Payments with AI Innovation

Stream platform is really stepping up its game in the FinTech sector across Saudi Arabia and the wider region! They've just successfully secured new funding worth $5.2 million in a "Seed Extension" round. This round was led by BECO Capital, with participation from STV, Flourish Ventures, and Arab Bank, alongside existing investors Outliers and BYLD.

This fresh round brings the company's total funding to an impressive $9.2 million in less than six months! This clearly shows how much investors trust Stream's business model and its ability to build a comprehensive infrastructure for digital invoicing and payments throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

Stream was founded in 2024 by Saudi entrepreneur Ibrahim Al-Dulaijan and is headquartered in Riyadh. They initially focused on the education sector but have gradually expanded into software, services, and digital subscription industries.

More Than Just a Payment Gateway: A Full Invoicing Infrastructure

Stream positions itself as a "foundational layer" within companies' financial infrastructure. Their services go beyond traditional electronic payments, offering a complete system to manage the entire invoicing cycle. This includes everything from issuing invoices with a company's own branding to handling collections, financial settlements, and reporting.

This is happening at a time when companies in the region are rapidly shifting towards more complex revenue models, whether through subscriptions, scheduled payments, or installment plans. Many traditional invoicing systems just can't keep up with these changes.

The platform allows companies to design flexible payment models, including one-time payments, monthly and annual subscriptions, and installment plans. This also helps reduce the operational burdens associated with reminders, settlements, and accounting follow-ups.

Regulatory Compliance and AI Integration

One of Stream's key strengths is its direct integration with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority's systems. This ensures full compliance with the requirements for Phase Two of e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia.

The company has also continued to enhance its technical platform by launching APIs for managing subscriptions and recurring billing. Plus, they've integrated the "MCP – Model Context Protocol," a move aimed at supporting what they call "AI-native Payments."

This direction shows the company's ambition to build a payment ecosystem that can interact with AI applications and agents in the future, especially with the global expansion of AI solutions in financial and commercial operations.

Rapid Expansion and Diverse Customer Base

Despite being a relatively new company, Stream has achieved rapid growth within the Saudi market. They started by serving schools and educational centers that rely on collecting scheduled fees, before expanding to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies, sports clubs, and businesses based on memberships and services.

The platform currently processes millions of dollars in payments monthly and provides services to hundreds of companies. They also manage invoicing operations for prominent organizations like "Atyab" and "Riyadh Schools Group."

At the same time, the platform is experiencing rapid organic growth among freelancers and AI-dependent software developers. These users are looking for more flexible and easier solutions to collect payments and manage invoices without technical or accounting complexities.

Ibrahim Al-Dulaijan, the company's founder and CEO, mentioned that invoicing is evolving much faster than many companies realize. He highlighted that Stream is focused on removing obstacles that slow down payment collection processes, while also rapidly launching new products to support the growth of businesses in the region.
