As global job markets transform due to digital shifts and a growing demand for tech talent, Engineer Hatem Ali has emerged as a new-generation leader in the talent economy. He founded Dragons, a company dedicated to redesigning how technological expertise is connected and exported from Egypt to international markets.
Hatem Ali offers a fresh perspective on the job market. He believes the challenge isn't a shortage of talent, but rather a lack of precise mechanisms to assess, manage, and sustainably employ talent within global value chains. This insight drove him to build a model that shifts from traditional recruitment to "managing talent as an economic asset that can be developed and exported."
Dragons: An Operational Platform Reshaping the Tech Talent Market
Dragons operates as a comprehensive digital platform for managing and developing tech talent. It focuses on connecting Egyptian professionals with international markets, primarily the United States, Europe, and some Arab markets. This model emphasizes direct operation rather than traditional job brokerage.
The company's model relies on three main stages: discovering talent within a practical training environment, evaluating performance through extended real-world projects, and then managing the relationship between companies and talent post-employment through a continuous digital operating system.
AI as an Operational Tool, Not Just a Technology
As part of its technical infrastructure, Dragons developed an AI-powered system called Nimo. Nimo acts as a unified operational layer to manage recruitment processes, task distribution, connecting companies with talent, and handling contracts and teams, effectively integrating multiple functions into one platform.
This approach reflects a trend where FinTech and EdTech companies are moving from offering separate services to building integrated operating systems that leverage automation and AI in human resource management.
Since its founding in the United States in 2023 and its registration in Egypt in 2024, Dragons has successfully trained over 3,000 trainees and secured 237 employment contracts. Its client network spans the United States, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
The company aims to expand into new markets including Canada, Australia, and Eastern Europe, following a strategy based on demand-driven expansion rather than random growth.
The Talent Economy: A Multi-Revenue Model
The company employs a multi-source business model that includes employment contracts, training programs, and managing in-company teams through its platform. This approach boosts revenue sustainability and reduces reliance on a single source.
Its strategy also focuses on building long-term relationships with startups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), especially in markets increasingly dependent on external talent to bridge the tech skills gap.
A Mentorship System and Strategic Partnerships
Dragons boasts a network of specialized software development mentors with international backgrounds, including experience at companies like Intel, IBM, and Oracle. This significantly enhances the quality of training and qualification.
The company also benefited from early support through business incubators like Creativa Fayoum, which played a crucial role in providing an operational environment, consultations, and networking opportunities that helped launch the model.
Hatem Ali and Dragons' journey represents a transformation in the concept of the labor market within the technology economy. It shifts from a traditional recruitment model to a "talent management economy" model, which relies on data, continuous evaluation, and directly connecting skilled professionals with global demand.
Given the increasing global shortage of tech talent, this model positions Egypt as a potential source of exportable talent, not just as a workforce, but as an economic asset within the global digital economy system.
