Now, it's available to a limited number of WhatsApp beta users on Android through the latest beta release, getting ready for a wider rollout soon.

More Flexible Media Management

This new tool offers two smart ways to manage files stored within channels. This gives users more flexible options to clean up their storage without accidentally deleting important content. The first method lets you access all the media downloaded from any channel right from its info page. You can then sort these files by type – whether they're photos, videos, stickers, or voice messages – and delete an entire category directly. This saves a lot of time and effort compared to the old way of deleting files one by one. Plus, the feature is smart enough to protect your 'starred' content. It skips over any files you've marked with a star, making sure your important stuff stays safe and isn't lost by mistake. The second method is perfect for users who follow a lot of channels. In the 'Updates' tab, you can select one or multiple channels and then use the 'Clear media files' option to delete all their stored media at once, without needing to go into each channel separately.

Even though this feature might seem simple from a technical standpoint, it's designed to solve one of the most common issues WhatsApp users face. With channels increasingly sharing photos and videos daily, files can quickly accumulate, taking up several gigabytes of phone space.
