The Cabinet Media Center recently shined a spotlight on the WE Applied Technology Schools, recognizing them as the first government system dedicated to telecommunications and information technology. This initiative aligns with Egypt's national strategy to boost technical education and equip its workforce with the digital skills needed for both local and global job markets. Through a series of infographics shared on its official platforms, the Center explained that these schools offer a unique educational model. They blend academic study with hands-on practical training, ensuring students are well-prepared for the digital transformation and ready to jump into modern technology sectors.
An Educational System Focused on Future Jobs
The Center noted that WE Schools first launched in 2020 and have since grown to 27 schools spread across various governorates in Egypt. Their educational approach emphasizes practical learning, with 60% of the curriculum dedicated to hands-on training and 40% to theoretical study. This balance ensures students gain valuable real-world experience alongside their academic qualifications. The schools offer five main specializations: Telecommunications, Website and Software Development, Networks and Information Security, Digital Arts, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis. The study program spans three years, featuring specialized curricula that keep pace with the latest technological advancements. According to the infographics, graduates from WE Schools receive a Technical Diploma for Applied Technology Schools (a Technological Baccalaureate). High-achieving students also earn an internationally accredited academic certificate, along with an experience certificate from Telecom Egypt. Additionally, they receive professional certificates issued by specialized companies within the telecommunications and information technology sector. The curriculum combines core subjects approved by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education—such as Arabic, English, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, Economics, and Physical Education—with specialized technical subjects taught in English. The schools also offer programs designed to develop students' personal, social, and behavioral skills.
Admission Requirements and Study Benefits
The Center highlighted that the schools provide practical training in state-of-the-art labs and workshops. They also offer internationally accredited curricula and certificates for outstanding students, along with multiple pathways for graduates to either continue their education or enter the job market. Graduates have exciting options for further study. They can enroll in Technological Universities, or Faculties of Computers and Information and Artificial Intelligence if they achieve 75% or higher and pass equivalency exams. Exceptional students may even be eligible to join Engineering Colleges after meeting specific criteria. Industrial Education Institutes and Colleges are also available pathways. Regarding admission requirements, the Center clarified that applicants must be Egyptian nationals and hold a preparatory stage certificate. They must also meet the minimum admission score set by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and be no older than 18 years on October 1st of the academic year. Prospective students must pass a medical examination, aptitude tests, a personal interview, and demonstrate proficiency in English. Applications are submitted electronically through the official website of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
