Terraxy Secures $3 Million Funding to Scale Up Desert Farming Solutions and Industrial Production

Saudi agricultural technology company Terraxy, which spun out of scientific research at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), has successfully raised $3 million in a Seed-2 investment round. This round was led by Wa'ed Ventures, Aramco's venture capital arm, with participation from KAUST. This new funding aims to accelerate the company's expansion in soil regeneration technologies and their applications in land landscaping and carbon capture within desert environments. It will also support Terraxy's plans to transition from pilot production to large-scale industrial production across various regions of the Kingdom. Terraxy plans to use the funding to establish a 30,000-square-meter commercial facility in Al-Zulfi governorate. This move will significantly boost its production capabilities and support the wider deployment of its agricultural solutions. Saudi Arabia's soil faces challenges due to its sandy nature and limited ability to retain water and nutrients. This often restricts the efficiency and productivity of agricultural operations. To tackle this, the company developed "CarboSoil," a soil enhancer that helps increase plant growth and productivity by up to 70% while maintaining the same levels of water and nutrient consumption. This innovation supports more efficient use of agricultural resources in desert environments. Terraxy also benefited from the "Experimental Regulatory Environment" program run by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. This program allows emerging environmental technologies and products to be tested under real-world operating conditions to verify their efficiency and effectiveness. Founded in 2023 by Himanshu Mishra and Adair Gallo Jr., Terraxy focuses on developing innovative solutions to improve soil fertility and enhance agricultural sustainability in arid regions.
