Tabby Expands into Digital Banking with 'Tabby Cash' in the UAE

Tabby has really expanded its reach in the FinTech market by launching "Tabby Cash." This new service offers a free digital spending account, complete with a payment card and fee-free money transfers. It's a clear sign that the company is moving beyond its "Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)" focus to build a complete financial ecosystem. This new system will offer solutions for managing money and daily spending all within one easy-to-use app. This new product launch comes just months after Tabby received its Stored Value Facilities license from the Central Bank of the UAE. This license is a big deal because it allows Tabby to hold customer funds and offer a much wider range of digital financial services across the country, really boosting its position in the UAE's FinTech scene.

First Product After Regulatory Approval

Tabby Cash is the very first service the company is rolling out since getting that important license in April 2026. That approval opened the door for Tabby to expand its business from just consumer finance to offering everyday financial services, including digital accounts, payment cards, and money management tools. Tabby shared that the service is already up and running, with over 150,000 customers actively using it. They have plans to gradually make it available to all users in the UAE over the next few weeks. This expansion is a key part of Tabby's strategy to diversify its revenue streams and build stronger relationships with customers. They're moving beyond just financing purchases to becoming a part of customers' daily financial lives.

Free Account and Cashback on Purchases

Tabby Cash offers a completely free digital account – no fees for opening the account, issuing the card, or monthly subscriptions. Plus, the Tabby Cash Card lets users earn up to 3% cashback on certain types of purchases. Tabby Plus subscribers get the same 3% cashback on international purchases, while other users will receive 1% cashback after the promotional offer ends. To celebrate the launch, Tabby announced that all customers will receive 3% cashback until November 1, 2026. On top of that, they're offering free and unlimited local money transfers, with plans to add international transfer services in the near future.

From Installment Solutions to a Comprehensive Financial Platform

The launch of Tabby Cash also comes with a brand new identity for the company. This signals a major strategic shift as Tabby aims to become a complete financial platform, rather than just offering installment payment services at checkout. According to Hussam Arab, Tabby's Founder and CEO, the company is focused on building a financial experience that gives customers more control over their daily money management. He emphasized that Tabby's vision is to develop a platform that customers use for all their financial transactions, not just when they're taking advantage of installment payment solutions.

FinTech Moving Towards the 'Super App' Model

Tabby Cash's launch really highlights a fast-growing trend in the FinTech sector. Companies are increasingly looking to build integrated financial ecosystems that include digital accounts, payment cards, transfer services, financing, savings, and investments, rather than just focusing on one financial service. This expansion comes at a time when Tabby already has millions of customers across the GCC markets and partners with over 65,000 brands in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait. They've also strengthened their regulatory presence recently by securing new financial licenses in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This shift points to intensifying competition among FinTech companies in the region. They're moving from offering specialized payment solutions to developing comprehensive financial platforms. The goal is to increase daily app usage, boost customer loyalty, and create new revenue streams in a market that's seeing rapid growth and expansion in digital services.
