Startup Egypt Launches and Unveils Its Impressive Board of Trustees

Dr. Magued Ghoneima, Director of M Empire Venture Capital Fund, announced the launch of "Startup Egypt." This new non-profit, membership-based organization aims to support Egyptian startup founders, empowering them to build and expand companies that can compete both locally and globally. Startup Egypt is a non-profit, membership-based organization focused on bridging gaps for entrepreneurs at various stages of their journey. It achieves this by connecting them with mentors, stakeholders, and suitable opportunities, alongside providing a range of programs and benefits designed to help startups grow and scale faster, more efficiently, and sustainably. In this context, the organization announced the formation of its Board of Trustees, which includes a distinguished group of entrepreneurs and experts in investment, technology, and entrepreneurship. Here's a look at the members:

Dr. Magued Ghoneima

Founder & Chairman

He is the Founder and General Partner at M Empire Angels Fund, which has invested in over 200 startups across more than 30 countries. Dr. Ghoneima is a prominent figure in Egypt's entrepreneurship ecosystem, blending advanced engineering, academia, and policy-making to support high-potential founders. He also serves as a Professor of Mechatronics at Ain Shams University, where he founded the university's Innovation Hub (ASU Innovation Hub – iHub). He led the Innovators Support Fund under the Ministry of Higher Education and contributed to shaping the innovation strategy across 98 universities nationwide, showcasing his expertise at the intersection of engineering, scientific research, and public policy.

Dr. Mohamed El-Okby

Secretary General

He holds the position of Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and is the official spokesperson for the Ministry. Dr. El-Okby brings over 20 years of experience in media and communication within the Egyptian government. He has led communication strategies for several major national initiatives and managed media operations for international events, most notably the COP27 and COP28 climate conferences.

Ayman Bazaraa

Vice Chairman

He is the CEO and Founder of Sprints, an AI-powered educational platform that customizes and incentivizes learning for employment. He also co-founded other companies like HiRemoters, MicroDoers, and AveLabs, specializing in remote work, augmented reality, and startup building. His previous leadership experience at companies like Orange, IBM, and Valeo has given him a unique blend of global corporate expertise and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Sabrine Assem

Treasurer

She is the Founder and CEO of Untap, a platform specializing in talent and awards management and innovation infrastructure, trusted by major global organizations in over 30 countries. Previously, she founded SolverMine as an open innovation intermediary in the Middle East and Africa, which laid the intellectual foundation for Untap, based on the idea that innovation is a continuous system, not isolated events.

Ayman El-Sawy

Board Member

He is the Founder and CEO of Bokra, a savings platform designed to protect savings from inflation and currency depreciation. He leads product development, regulatory strategy, and investment attraction. He previously served as the CFO for a major group in the non-banking financial sector, where he helped structure Egypt's first securitization bonds and led over 40 debt issuances totaling more than 50 billion Egyptian pounds, in addition to contributing to the development of bond and Sukuk frameworks.

Mohamed Aboul Naga Nagaty

Board Member

He is the CEO of Exits MENA and the founder of pie, a company specializing in M&A advisory for startups. He also co-founded Halan and Klivvr, served as Regional Manager at Careem, and was part of the founding team of Fawry, the first technology company to be listed on the Egyptian Exchange.

Ahmed Shaaban

Board Member

He is the Founder and CEO of Simplex CNC and a Board Member of the Engineering Industries Chamber. He successfully transformed his graduation project into a leading manufacturing company for CNC machines. His company has delivered over 7,000 machines to more than 30 countries, operates 8 global offices and 3 factories, and has trained over 20,000 professionals in the industrial sector.

Omar El Monayer

Board Member

He is the Co-founder of Meska AI and the CEO of Sigma-Fit, a company specializing in smart fabrics and wearable technology. Meska AI focuses on supporting AI adoption through training and consulting, having trained thousands of professionals and advised governments on AI strategies and future readiness.

Rania Ayman

Board Member

She is the Founder and CEO of Entreprenelle, an organization that has reached over one million women entrepreneurs in the Middle East and contributed to the establishment of more than 10,000 projects. With over 23 years of experience in social development, she also serves as the Head of the Fashion Management School and a National Consultant for the UN Women Alumni Network, focusing on women's empowerment and linking entrepreneurship with the creative economy.
