In a move that highlights the growing presence of Egyptian startups in AI and software infrastructure, George Fahmy, Founder and CEO of Stakpak, announced that his company has joined Vercel. This collaboration aims to help develop the next generation of Agentic Infrastructure, which relies on smart agents. Fahmy explained that Stakpak was founded in 2023 with a vision to make software capable of managing itself. He noted that the company secured its first investment round in 2024 to support the development of its "Self-Driving Infrastructure" concept. He added that a small team from Egypt successfully developed one of the first open-source smart agent platforms. They also built a production-ready DevOps agent and smart agent-based security systems, launching features that were well ahead of many companies in this field. Fahmy pointed out that over nearly two years, the company gained significant experience in building and operating agents within production environments. This expertise contributed to developing practical solutions for AI-powered infrastructure. He confirmed that Vercel is currently building an agentic infrastructure platform. This platform will allow developers to build, deploy, and run agents, as well as manage the infrastructure itself using smart agents. Fahmy emphasized that Stakpak's journey began in Egypt with two years of self-funding. After that, they successfully secured venture capital investment and moved to San Francisco. He expressed gratitude to the early investors and the open-source community, whose contributions helped Stakpak become one of the most widely used open-source DevOps agents.
