Proofpoint Launches New AI Security to Help Businesses Stay Safe

Proofpoint, a company specializing in cybersecurity and compliance, has announced the launch of Proofpoint AI Security. This is their latest solution designed to protect how AI is used within organizations, by combining analysis of user intent, multiple control points, and a comprehensive enforcement framework.

The solution relies on an "Agent Integrity Framework," which sets clear rules for how AI agents operate. It's based on a five-stage maturity model, starting with discovery and ending with policy enforcement during operation. This ensures that AI agents are closely monitored and compared against their operational goals.

Real risks are starting to emerge with AI use. These include things like privilege escalation and command injection attacks that happen without direct human involvement. For example, a single AI request could trigger dozens of operations across multiple systems at a speed that's too fast for human oversight.

Research from Acuvity shows that 70% of organizations don't have effective AI governance. Plus, half of them expect to experience AI-related data losses within the next 12 months. This really highlights the urgent need for stronger protection systems.

Sumeet Dhawan, CEO of Proofpoint, shared his thoughts:
