Next Academy highlighted that the main reason many companies fail isn't necessarily due to weak products or services. Instead, it often comes down to a fundamental flaw in market targeting, specifically relying on an inaccurate idea of what's known as a Buyer Persona. They explained in a post on their Facebook page that building a Buyer Persona shouldn't just be based on general assumptions like age, gender, or geographic location. Instead, it needs to be built on realistic and precise analysis that uses real data and actual consumer behavior. They added that a correct Buyer Persona model should be based on four main pillars: actual data gathered from the market, real customer buying behavior, core needs and pain points, and the motivations behind purchase decisions. Next Academy continued by saying that the more companies rely on accurate and realistic data to build their customer understanding, the more directly this reflects on improving the efficiency of marketing campaigns, speeding up the sales cycle, and boosting the quality of operational results. They pointed out that one of the biggest challenges facing startups is relying on expectations and assumptions when building marketing strategies, instead of scientifically analyzing the market based on data. They stressed that any company's success starts with a deep and accurate understanding of the real customer, not just the product. They believe this understanding is the foundation upon which growth and sustainability strategies are built in competitive business environments.
