Naim Yazbek, President of Microsoft Middle East and Africa, announced that the company has funded and implemented over 100 strategic national projects in Egypt over the past year. Additionally, 84 national projects are currently underway. This effort is part of Microsoft's ongoing partnership with the Egyptian government, aimed at supporting the country's digital transformation journey. This announcement came during a meeting with Dr. Mohamed Farid, Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade. They discussed Microsoft's expansion plans in the Egyptian market, reviewed current and future projects, and explored ways to boost investments in the information technology sector. All these efforts align with the state's strategy to build a competitive digital economy. Several Microsoft leaders also attended the meeting. Discussions covered various areas of cooperation, including capacity building and training, supporting startups, expanding data centers, and promoting the use of artificial intelligence technologies in both government and banking sectors. They also talked about backing national projects and youth skill development programs. Minister Mohamed Farid emphasized that the communications and information technology sector is a key pillar for attracting investments in Egypt. He highlighted the government's commitment to creating a flexible investment environment through special investment zones and available incentives. This, he noted, helps boost the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and enhances its ability to export digital services. Naim Yazbek also reaffirmed that Microsoft's partnership with the Egyptian government dates back to 2001. This long-standing collaboration has involved strategic agreements to develop digital solutions for the state's administrative apparatus, leading to higher spending efficiency and stronger digital integration. He further pointed out the company's contribution to supporting several major national projects, such as the New Administrative Capital, the e-invoicing system, the Universal Health Insurance system, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Yazbek stressed Microsoft's continued commitment to supporting Egypt's digital transformation and enhancing its global competitiveness.
