Mashreq Bank and Toothpick Team Up to Offer Easy In-Clinic Digital Loans for Healthcare

As embedded finance models are rapidly becoming more popular, getting loans isn't just limited to bank branches or financial apps anymore. Instead, it's becoming a seamless part of the service experience itself. Especially in the healthcare sector, there's a clear need for flexible financing options to keep up with rising service costs and truly transform the patient's journey from making a decision to completing their treatment.

Toothpick Platform

In this exciting landscape, Mashreq Bank has announced a strategic partnership with the Toothpick platform to launch a brand-new digital financing solution called "Mashreq NEO Credit Loans." This fantastic solution lets customers get instant and direct financing for medical services right from inside their clinics.

This solution is a perfect example of the "Banking as a Service" (BaaS) model in action. It means the bank is integrating its digital lending tools directly into non-banking systems, allowing financing to be offered exactly when it's truly needed. This comes at a time when the UAE market is seeing a big boom in adopting digital financial solutions, especially in high-cost service sectors.

Dental Service Financing

The new system makes it possible to finance dental services and cosmetic procedures for amounts up to 150,000 UAE Dirhams (which is about $41,000). This is all done through a completely digital experience that kicks off right in the clinic via the "Toothpick" platform. Customers can submit their financing application, have their details verified, and then receive a secure link to finish up the process. Once approved, the loan amount is transferred directly to the service provider.

This smooth integration between the healthcare platform and the bank doesn't just speed things up; it's actually redefining how we pay for healthcare. It removes those financial hurdles that might delay treatment decisions, all while offering flexible payment solutions that support both patients and the service providers.

Embedded Finance Sector

This move really shows Mashreq's commitment to boosting its presence in the embedded finance sector. They're doing this by building smart partnerships with digital platforms that already have huge user bases. This opens up exciting new opportunities for Mashreq to expand beyond traditional banking channels and reach brand-new groups of customers.

On its side, the Toothpick platform gets a big boost from this partnership. It enhances the value it offers to its network of over 1,000 clinics by providing direct financing options right within the service environment. This helps increase patient visits and makes the overall patient experience even better.

The first phase of this solution is expected to roll out in dental and cosmetic clinics across the UAE, with plans to expand to other medical specialties later on. This step will further strengthen the spread of the embedded finance model and truly support the growth of the digital healthcare market in the region.
