Dr. Majed Ghoneima, who chairs the board of trustees for "Startup Egypt," shared that their investment strategy has been focusing more on "Deep Tech" companies since the beginning of 2026. He sees this sector as having the greatest potential to create significant long-term economic value. Ghoneima explained that investing in these types of companies is different from traditional investments. It takes more time to find the right opportunities, and the companies themselves need longer periods to get their products to market and deliver returns to investors. He added that deep tech companies face bigger challenges, like longer product development cycles and tougher exit strategies compared to traditional startups. However, on the flip side, they also offer greater chances for high returns, especially since there are fewer specialized investors in this area. Ghoneima also mentioned that "Sanabel," a company under the "M Empire Angels" group, is busy finding innovations that can be turned into commercial products. They do this by working closely with Egyptian universities and research centers, aiming to bring technology from labs to the market. He further noted that the group also established "Aria Ventures" for early-stage investments. This company starts by injecting initial funds to test the market and evaluate the potential of turning technology into competitive and growing products and businesses.
