Egypt's New Budget Unveils Major Support for Businesses and Economic Growth

Ahmed Kojok, Egypt's Minister of Finance, confirmed that the new budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year is designed to build an economy that's more capable of achieving strong, balanced growth and more responsive to the needs of both citizens and investors. Kojok also explained that the new budget has allocated a whopping 90 billion Egyptian Pounds to expand programs supporting production, service and commodity exports, and entrepreneurship activities. He pointed out that this significant amount includes 48 billion Egyptian Pounds for refunding export burdens (export subsidies) and around 7 billion Egyptian Pounds to support the tourism sector. The Egyptian Minister added that 6 billion Egyptian Pounds have been set aside for financing facilities for productive sectors, aiming to boost industrial and agricultural capabilities. Additionally, 5 billion Egyptian Pounds will go towards supporting small projects and entrepreneurship activities, about 5 billion Egyptian Pounds will back the automotive industry, and 2 billion Egyptian Pounds are allocated to incentivize priority industries.
