Abdul Azim Othman, co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of NAWY, a company specializing in real estate technology, shared his thoughts on the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI). He believes these developments point to a major shift in how people interact with technology. Othman expects that traditional applications will gradually become less important, making way for AI agents that can perform tasks and services directly.
During his participation in the "Portfolio 2026" conference, Othman explained that major global tech companies are already testing new operating models. These models rely on direct interaction with AI systems, removing the need to use apps in the traditional way we're used to today.
He shared an interesting experience from an international event he attended in London. A user managed to order about 2,000 cookies to be delivered to the conference venue in just 45 seconds! This was done using voice commands directed to an AI system, without needing to open an app or go through multiple steps.
Othman added that a car company in Brazil presented a similar model. It allows customers to specify the car they want, pick-up location and time, and even add insurance services. The smart system then handles the entire process automatically. This clearly shows the growing trend towards using AI agents for everyday services.
He emphasized that these examples strengthen the belief among many global companies that the "era of applications" as we know it is nearing its end. The future, he says, belongs to AI agents that can manage and execute tasks for users efficiently and smoothly.
AI and Understanding Elephant Language
Othman also touched upon AI applications outside the business world, citing a scientific experiment in Africa focused on understanding how elephants communicate.
He explained that researchers studied how elephants reacted to bee sounds after noticing their extreme fear of them. Experiments showed that the herd leader immediately gave warning signals and gathered the young ones upon hearing the sound. By analyzing huge amounts of elephant sound recordings using AI language models, researchers were able to discover complex communication patterns among them. They also found that each elephant has unique vocal signals it responds to, and they even interpreted some calls related to warning about dangers.
Othman stressed that such experiments highlight AI's enormous potential to expand human understanding of the world around us. He noted that this technology is still in its early stages compared to what it could offer in the future.
AI Supports Startup Growth
Othman mentioned that NAWY is increasingly relying on AI technologies within the real estate technology (PropTech) sector. Their goal is to develop more efficient digital solutions that help customers access real estate services faster and smarter.
He added that AI opens up vast opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in emerging markets like Egypt. Now, individuals and startups can build world-class products and services with far fewer resources than before.
He revealed that NAWY recently brought in a founder from a Silicon Valley company in the United States to assess the level of AI usage within their teams. The results showed a remarkable similarity in AI adoption between the Egyptian teams and their counterparts in advanced global markets.
Othman affirmed that Egypt has exceptional talent in technology and AI. This gives local companies real chances to develop products that can compete in global markets.
Regional Expansion and IPO Plans
Othman disclosed that NAWY has achieved a business volume approaching 233 billion EGP in about six years. The company has also expanded its operations beyond the Egyptian market by acquiring a company in the United Arab Emirates, as part of its regional expansion plans.
He indicated that NAWY aims to transform into an integrated technology platform serving various activities related to the real estate sector in Egypt and the wider region. He confirmed that going public on the stock exchange remains a strategic option for the coming years, with expectations that this step could happen within three to five years.
