Egypt Partners with IE University to Boost Tech Skills and Entrepreneurship for Youth

Eng. Raafat Hendy, the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized that developing digital capabilities is a national priority for the Egyptian government. He highlighted that this forms the cornerstone of Egypt's Digital Strategy, which aims to prepare young professionals to compete effectively in the global job market.

This statement came during the Minister's reception of Diego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of Spain's IE University, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on exploring ways to collaborate on training programs in communications and information technology, with a special emphasis on advanced specializations and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship skills.

IE University is recognized as one of Europe's leading private universities, renowned for its focus on innovation and an international approach to education. It attracts students from over 130 countries and offers a wide range of academic programs in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and software engineering, all aligned with the demands of digital transformation and the knowledge economy.

The Minister also pointed to the role of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) as a specialized educational institution established through a collaboration between the Ministries of Communications and Higher Education. EUI offers joint educational programs with international universities to prepare professionals who meet the latest global standards.

He added that the Ministry's efforts to empower youth extend through programs like the "Digital Egypt Builders Initiative" (Agyal Misr Al-Raqamiya) and other training initiatives. These include direct training, blended learning, and online training, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

For his part, Diego del Alcázar Benjumea stressed the attractiveness of the Egyptian market to IE University. He expressed the university's desire to expand cooperation with Egyptian academic institutions and companies, and to support Egyptian graduates working in both public and private sectors. He also showcased the university's programs in knowledge production and entrepreneurship, including the "South Summit," which brings together global investors, and mentioned the university's ambition to host a version of it in Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, discussions covered academic cooperation programs, student exchange, scholarship opportunities, and support for startups and Digital Egypt Innovation Centers to boost technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
