ITIDA Head: Egyptian Startups Are a Key Driver for Our Tech Sector

Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), confirmed that the agency sees startups as one of the main engines for the growth of Egypt's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. He emphasized their pivotal role in boosting innovation, attracting investments, and creating quality job opportunities for Egyptian youth. Elzaher explained that developing the IT sector is a strategic goal for ITIDA. He pointed out that the startup ecosystem has become an essential element in achieving this goal, as it helps attract millions of dollars in investments. Plus, it supports digital transformation and develops innovative technological solutions that serve various economic sectors. He added that most startups today rely on technology as the core foundation of their business models. This means the growth of these companies is directly linked to the growth of the ICT sector. Elzaher affirmed that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and ITIDA will continue to support startups and entrepreneurs. They also connect companies with funding and investment opportunities. He noted that ITIDA is keen to encourage all initiatives that aim to develop the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt.
