He's the Co-founder and CEO of Paymob, a pioneering company that offers digital payment solutions across the Middle East and Pakistan. Under his leadership, Paymob has become a comprehensive platform driving digital transformation towards financial inclusion and strengthening the digital economy's infrastructure in the region.

Shawky, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo (AUC), began his entrepreneurial journey during his university years. He leveraged his engineering background to develop digital solutions that filled gaps in payment services in Egypt, ultimately paving the way for Paymob's establishment in 2015.

A Career Full of Achievements

Since its launch, Paymob, under Shawky's guidance, has successfully served over 150,000 merchants and offers more than 40 innovative digital payment methods. This has positioned the company at the forefront of Fintech firms in the region. Shawky has also secured over $90 million in international funding from global investors, including PayPal Ventures and EBRD, to support the company's expansion and boost innovation in payment solutions.

Beyond his executive role, Shawky is a board member of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), which is part of Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This highlights his commitment to supporting the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem and enhancing professional standards in the sector.

International Awards and Recognition

His efforts have earned international recognition. Forbes Middle East selected him for their "30 Under 30" list in 2021, and he was named an Endeavor Entrepreneur in 2022. These accolades acknowledge his significant role in driving innovation and digital entrepreneurship across the region.
