Engineer Raafat Hendy, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized that Egypt's communications sector is a unique example of working with a true team spirit. He stressed that a shared vision for digital transformation is the main driver for everyone working in this vital sector. This statement came during the closing ceremony of the eighteenth edition of the Ramadan tournament for the Communications and Information Technology sector, ICTBALL 2026. The event, held under the slogan "Support Your Company's Team," was filled with a festive atmosphere that truly reflected the strong professional bonds among technology institutions in Egypt. The Minister shared, "This tournament is no longer just a fleeting sports event; it has become one of the most important annual events that truly reflect the spirit of cooperation and integration among those working in the sector. We are all working hand-in-hand to support the digital transformation journey and boost Egypt's standing in the technology industry." He added that the Ministry prioritizes supporting initiatives that strengthen human connections and sportsmanship among companies and entities within the sector. He also noted that the remarkable success of this year's edition clearly shows the vitality and cohesion of Egypt's communications and information technology community. The final match saw intense competition among the participating teams. Ultimately, the Telecom Egypt team proudly secured the championship title and the first-place cup for the fifth consecutive year! They triumphed over the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) team, which came in second. The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) took third place, and the Egypt Trust company team finished fourth. Several sector leaders and public figures attended the award ceremony to crown the winning teams. These included MP Ahmed Badawy, Head of the Communications Committee in the House of Representatives; Engineer Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of ITIDA; Engineer Tamer El Mahdy, CEO of Telecom Egypt; media personality Osama Kamal; and many other heads of international and local companies, as well as technology experts. This tournament truly embodied the integration between the government and private sectors, thanks to extensive sponsorship from major national and international entities.
