Flend, a company specializing in digital financing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), recently announced that its co-founder, Nihal Helmy, has been selected to join the Growth Stage Program 2026 at the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship. Nihal Helmy's selection came from a highly competitive group of entrepreneurs across Africa. This is a fantastic step that truly reflects Flend's rapid growth and its ambitious plans to expand its digital financing services for SMEs throughout the region. Flend is actually the first platform in Egypt to offer technology-backed financing solutions that rely on data analysis. They've developed a complete technical infrastructure and an alternative credit scoring model. Their main goal? To tackle one of the biggest challenges small businesses face: getting access to funding. Through its platform, Flend aims to empower businesses to secure financing faster and more efficiently, which in turn supports their growth and helps them thrive in the market. Just recently, Flend also officially announced that it received the Startup Label certification, making it the very first company to earn this accreditation under the Egyptian Startup Charter. This approval came after the company met all the criteria outlined in the Unified National Definition for Startups, which was launched via the Startup Egypt platform. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) is the official body responsible for issuing this classification.
