Egyptian Recycling Tech Firm Dawar Secures New Funding to Expand Its Tracking Network

Dawar Circular Solutions, an Egyptian platform, has successfully secured a nine-figure funding facility from several Egyptian financial institutions. These include GlobalCorp, a non-banking financial services provider; Tawasol, a company specializing in trade and supply chain finance; and the Commercial International Bank (CIB), a leading private sector banking group.

The company plans to use these funds to finance the trade of recyclable materials moving through its network. This network is powered by a digital tracking system that allows for the precise documentation and verification of material movement.

Founded in 2017 by Amr Fathy, Mostafa Khairat, and Hussein Barda, Dawar is building a digital infrastructure platform to streamline the flow of recyclable materials. So far, the company has documented over 90,000 tons of materials across 22 governorates within Egypt.

Dawar's platform focuses on tracking and verifying the journey of materials through collection points, aggregators, and traders. This helps organize informal waste recovery systems, transforming them into traceable and auditable supply chains. This transformation ensures compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and opens doors to international markets.

The new funding directly supports the financing of recyclable material trade within Dawar's network. Meanwhile, its technology platform provides the essential tracking infrastructure, enabling the documentation, verification, and easier financing of these material flows.

This whole process helps generate accurate data about the origin, processing, and manufacturing of materials. Ultimately, it aims to close critical information gaps in waste supply chains across Egypt and the wider region.

As its network expands within the local Egyptian market, Dawar is also exploring opportunities to grow beyond Egypt. The company is looking at markets that face similar structural challenges, where its digital tracking infrastructure can significantly speed up the organization of waste value chains.
