Egypt's Telecom Shops Update Hours for Daylight Saving Time

In a new regulatory move coinciding with the start of Daylight Saving Time in Egypt, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced a comprehensive adjustment to the operating hours of telecom service outlets. This comes as part of a plan aimed at improving user experience and ensuring continuous service delivery during extended daylight hours.

These measures are based on Law No. 24 of 2023, with the new schedule set to begin on Friday, April 24, 2026. This reflects a regulatory response to the change in citizens' daily routines after the official time adjustment.

According to the new schedule announced by the NTRA, operating hours for telecom service outlets have been redistributed as follows:

On working days from Saturday to Thursday, public reception hours will extend from 9:00 AM until 11:00 PM.

For Fridays, a different schedule has been set to align with the unique nature of the day. Outlets will open from 3:00 PM and continue until 11:00 PM, striking a balance between social considerations and ease of access to services.

Considering the nature of certain operational locations, the NTRA has exempted outlets located within vital areas directly linked to the operating hours of the entities they are part of. These outlets will adhere to the schedules approved within those specific locations.

These exceptions include outlets inside major commercial centers (malls), sports and social clubs, and air and sea ports.

In a related context, the NTRA emphasized the importance of citizens adjusting their phone and watch times at midnight on Thursday, coinciding with the start of Daylight Saving Time. This is to avoid any confusion in transaction timings or delays in utilizing various services.

This reminder aims to minimize any transitional effects that might result from the time change, ensuring smooth daily transactions without disruption or misjudgment of appointments.
