The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), led by Dr. Islam Azzam, has given its approval for the establishment of Al Ahly Tamkeen for Consumer Finance. This approval came after the company submitted its application for establishment and licensing to operate in the sector, and importantly, before the FRA issued Decision No. 43 of 2026 last February. That decision had temporarily halted the acceptance of new establishment requests and initial approvals for companies looking to get a license for consumer finance activities. The FRA's approval was based on the company completing all its establishment and licensing procedures, fully complying with the existing legal and regulatory frameworks. This also aligns perfectly with the policies governing Egypt's non-banking financial market. This approval falls squarely within the constitutional and legal powers of the Financial Regulatory Authority. The FRA is the main body responsible for overseeing and supervising non-banking financial markets and instruments. This includes capital markets, futures exchanges, insurance activities, real estate finance, financial leasing, factoring, and securitization. Plus, they're also in charge of issuing approvals for the establishment and licensing of companies operating in these various activities. The FRA continues its dedicated efforts to regulate and develop non-banking financial activities. Their goal is to ensure stability in these markets, boost the efficiency of companies and institutions operating within them, and enhance governance and transparency. All of this is done while protecting the rights of consumers and ensuring everyone adheres to the rules and regulations for each specific activity.
