Libya is really pushing forward with its digital transformation journey for government services, rolling out electronic solutions to simplify procedures and make things better for users. In line with this, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, part of the Government of National Unity, announced the launch of the official app for the mandatory car insurance system. This move aims to make it much easier to access insurance services right from your smartphone and boost the reliability of electronic documents. According to the Libyan News Agency, the app, which is available on the Google Play Store, lets users keep their electronic insurance policy and instantly verify its validity by scanning a QR code. This ensures the policy is registered and approved within the official system. The app also allows citizens to check the validity of insurance documents before using them, which helps reduce the risk of dealing with unapproved documents. It also makes it easier to refer to official data when needed, especially for compensation claims or following up on traffic accident procedures. Plus, the app comes packed with a bunch of digital services! These include viewing saved documents, calculating your insurance premium based on your car type and coverage period, and even sending you alerts before your documents expire. All these features really help simplify processes and improve the user experience. For the relevant authorities, the app provides direct verification of insurance documents. This speeds up transaction processing, boosts the efficiency of electronic monitoring and oversight, and supports better integration among related entities. The Ministry explained that launching this app is a continuation of developing the mandatory car insurance system, which was implemented by the Economic Information and Documentation Center. They also noted that the number of active policies has now exceeded 193,000, and an impressive 61,557 policies were issued this month alone. That's a 15.9% increase compared to the same period last month, clearly showing a growing demand for digital services!
