New figures from Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology reveal a noticeable drop in the number of new tech and telecom companies established in the country during February 2026.

Egypt Sees Fewer New Tech Companies Formed in February 2026

Data from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed a decline in the number of new telecommunications and information technology companies established in Egypt during February 2026, reaching 254 companies. This is a drop from 352 companies in February 2025, marking an annual decrease of 98 companies. The Ministry, in its regular sector indicators report, also clarified that the number of new companies decreased compared to January 2026, which saw 324 companies established. This represents a monthly decline of 70 companies, or 21.6%. Furthermore, the total capital for new companies in the telecommunications and information technology sector reached approximately 132.22 million Egyptian Pounds (EGP) in February 2026, down from 284.86 million EGP in the same month last year. This is an annual decrease of over 152 million EGP. In comparison, the registered capital in January was about 255.65 million EGP.
