The Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt has given the green light to launch the "Sensor X Challenge" smart sensor innovation competition. Goals and Target Audience
The competition aims to build a generation of innovators who can design smart sensing solutions that meet the needs of both local and regional markets, contributing to sustainable development goals. The competition covers six strategic areas: Environment and Sustainability: Developing solutions to measure air and water quality, and detect leaks and pollution. Health and Biomedical: Designing applications to monitor vital signs and analyze movement and physical activity. Smart Agriculture: Innovating sensors to measure soil moisture and temperature, improve crop quality, and enable smart irrigation. Infrastructure and Construction: Developing solutions to monitor bridges and tunnels, and detect cracks and vibrations. Transportation: Designing applications to track road conditions, vehicles, and traffic infrastructure. Industry and Manufacturing: Innovating sensors to monitor production lines, temperature, and vibrations, thereby improving operational efficiency.Competition Stages
The competition will unfold in several consecutive stages. It kicks off with the announcement and opening of registration, followed by idea submission. Then, the shortlisted teams will be announced, leading to development, prototyping, and final judging phases. The competition concludes with the announcement of results and honoring the winners.Prizes
The competition has allocated financial prizes and comprehensive support for the winning projects, as follows: First Place: 50,000 Egyptian Pounds, along with project funding and incubation within a business incubator. Second Place: 30,000 Egyptian Pounds and support for project development. Third Place: 15,000 Egyptian Pounds, a certificate of honor, and in-kind gifts.
