Cybersecurity is a hot topic in Egypt right now, especially with all the digital transformation projects happening and more organizations relying on digital services. This naturally means there's a growing need for skilled professionals who can protect our digital infrastructure and tackle cyber threats. That's why the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), under the wing of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has just launched the third edition of its "Cybersecurity SuperHero Academy." They're doing this in partnership with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), specifically its National Computer and Network Emergency Readiness Center (EG-CERT), and with help from several global and local cybersecurity companies.
Huge Demand Shows Growing Interest in Cybersecurity
The Academy saw an incredible turnout during its initial registration phase, with over 22,000 applicants! This really shows how much young people are getting interested in cybersecurity fields and the jobs that come with them. After applying the standard admission criteria, about 4,000 trainees were selected to join the program. This ensures that the specialized training content perfectly matches what the participants need. The program aims to equip these individuals with essential and advanced skills in protecting systems and networks. This way, they'll be ready for the fast-paced changes in the digital security landscape, both locally and globally, and better prepared to jump into the tech job market.Wider Reach to Cover More Governorates
This latest edition of the Academy really shows a significant expansion in its reach. Training programs are now being offered through more than 18 NTI branches and training centers, spread across 17 governorates. This means more opportunities for trainees all over Egypt, moving away from just focusing training programs in a limited area. This wider spread is part of the Ministry of Communications' goal to make digital capacity-building programs more widespread and offer tech training opportunities to as many young people as possible, contributing to more inclusive digital development.New Phases and Partnerships with Major Global Companies
Looking ahead, NTI plans to open registration for the second and third phases of the Academy soon. These phases are specifically for university students and graduates, completing a comprehensive training system that targets various age groups and educational backgrounds. This creates a full pathway for building cybersecurity skills. The Academy is a key part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's strategy to build digital capabilities, spread cybersecurity awareness, and prepare qualified professionals who can protect our digital space. It also supports the government's digital transformation plans and aims to build a more secure digital society. A number of major global and local companies are involved in delivering the program, including Cisco, Fortinet, F5, ICT Misr, Silicon21, Codinger, and Career180, along with Coca-Cola Egypt and Juhayna. This collaboration really boosts the practical side of the training, giving participants a chance to see the latest solutions, technologies, and professional practices used in the cybersecurity sector.
