In a move that highlights the ongoing development of Saudi Arabia's financial technology regulatory framework, the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) announced it has officially granted "Integrated Modern Solutions for Finance" a license to operate in the "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) sector within the Saudi market. This brings the total number of licensed finance companies to 71, signaling a growing number of players in this rapidly expanding sector. This license is part of a broader initiative by SAMA to support the finance sector and boost the efficiency of digital financial transactions. They're doing this by expanding the range of services available to consumers and businesses, keeping pace with fast-changing payment and consumption habits, and ultimately enhancing financial inclusion across the Kingdom. Integrated Modern Solutions for Finance joining the BNPL market is a significant new addition to the FinTech landscape. What's interesting is that it's a fully-owned subsidiary of Al Moammar Information Systems. The company secured its license after meeting all the necessary regulatory requirements and also rebranded its identity. It was previously known as "Al Tamayuz for Application Solutions for Information Technology" before adopting its new name. This development also reflects the parent company's strategy to strengthen its presence in the digital financial services sector. They've increased their capital from 10 million Saudi Riyals to 65 million Saudi Riyals. This move aims to support their expansion and growth plans in the finance business, indicating a strong investment bet on one of the fastest-growing digital economy sectors in Saudi Arabia. From a wider perspective, this license is part of a rising trend of regulating and expanding the "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) sector in Saudi Arabia. BNPL has become a key driver in developing the digital payments ecosystem, fueled by increasing demand for flexible financing solutions and consumers' growing reliance on digital financial services for their everyday purchases. In this context, SAMA emphasizes the importance of dealing exclusively with licensed or authorized entities. This helps protect consumers and ensures the stability and reliability of the sector, as Saudi Arabia moves towards building a more mature and diverse digital financial system that supports its economic transformation goals under Vision 2030.
