STDF Launches Call for New Egypt-Japan Research Partnerships

The Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF), working together with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), has announced that applications are now open for joint scientific cooperation programs between Egypt and Japan. This initiative is all about boosting international research partnerships and helping researchers and scientists from both countries share their knowledge and expertise.

The programs on offer include the Joint Scientific Cooperation Projects program, which focuses on exchange visits. This program aims to support joint scientific research by making it possible for Egyptian researchers to visit their Japanese counterparts and vice versa. It's a fantastic way to strengthen research collaboration, transfer knowledge, and exchange scientific know-how.

Each project will run for two years, and the Egyptian side can receive up to 1.5 million Egyptian Pounds in funding, which breaks down to 750,000 EGP per year.

STDF is also offering a Scientific Workshops and Seminars program. This one is designed to support the organization of, or participation in, joint workshops and scientific events involving both Egyptian and Japanese teams. The goal here is to enhance research capabilities and foster academic cooperation between scientific institutions in both nations.

For this program, the Egyptian side can receive up to 450,000 EGP for events lasting a maximum of one week.

The authority mentioned that the final deadline for submitting applications is September 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM Cairo time.

STDF encourages all interested researchers to check out the full terms and details and register through the dedicated website.
