Valeo Opens New AI Development Center in Egypt, Boosting Tech Leadership

Eng. Raafat Hendy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, officially opened Valeo's Artificial Intelligence development center located within Smart Village. The inauguration was attended by Christophe Périllat, CEO of the French Valeo Group, Eng. Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Eng. Tamer Ali, Vice President of Technology Centers and General Manager of Valeo Egypt. Valeo Group is a globally recognized technology leader, specializing in creating advanced solutions and systems for both the automotive and broader technology sectors worldwide. This new center's launch is perfectly timed with Valeo Egypt celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over these two decades, Valeo Egypt has truly cemented its position as one of the most crucial software development hubs within the global Valeo Group. It contributes an impressive 50% of the group's total software production and exports nearly 4 million hours of research and development work annually. The new AI center is kicking off with 35 engineers, and there are exciting plans to grow the team to over 100 specialists in the near future. Its main goal is to speed up the integration of AI technologies across all of Valeo's global operations and to develop the next generation of smart mobility solutions and software, all powered by talented Egyptian professionals. The center will also focus on boosting the skills of local talent in areas like Artificial Intelligence and data science. Plus, it will be developing innovative solutions for electric vehicles, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), and smart in-car lighting experiences. This expansion comes at a time when the global automotive sector is rapidly shifting towards relying heavily on AI. Valeo is keen to strengthen its position at the forefront of smart mobility solutions by increasing productivity and developing advanced engineering tools that will shape the future of automotive software. Eng. Raafat Hendy emphasized that the opening of this center clearly shows Egypt's success in attracting global investments in the communications and information technology sector. It also boosts international companies' confidence in Egypt's investment environment. He pointed out that Egypt has become a significant hub for developing and exporting advanced technological solutions. He added that Valeo's new center is a continuation of the company's successful investment journey in Egypt. It truly reflects the competitive capabilities of Egyptian talent in software and smart systems. He also praised the more than 3,000 Egyptian engineers who work at the company. Christophe Périllat, CEO of Valeo Group, shared his thoughts, stating that over the past two decades, Egypt has blossomed into a leading center for engineering and innovation. He explained that launching this AI center is a strategic move that perfectly aligns with the company's vision to integrate AI technologies into all its engineering activities. In a similar vein, Eng. Ahmed El Zaher confirmed that Valeo's long-standing investments in Egypt highlight the country's success in building a strong foundation of digital talent. This further solidifies Egypt's standing as a regional and global hub for high-value outsourcing and digital services. Valeo Egypt is actively working on developing advanced software for things like autonomous parking systems, self-driving vehicles, digital cockpits, electric powertrain systems, and smart lighting systems.
