Uber Eats Expands Beyond Food Delivery, Welcomes New Retail Stores

Uber, the American company, has expanded its Uber Eats platform in the United States by adding a new range of specialized retail stores. This move shows the company's direction towards strengthening its presence in the e-commerce and on-demand delivery market, moving away from its traditional reliance on food delivery services. With this new expansion, users can now shop from a number of specialized brands and stores through the Uber Eats, Uber, and Postmates apps. This includes personal care products, office supplies, art materials, sports goods, and pet supplies. The list of new partners includes Kiehl’s for skin and hair care, FedEx Office for office supplies and packaging services, Blick Art Materials for art and creative supplies, Academy Sports + Outdoors for sports products, and Choice Pet, which specializes in pet supplies.

Strategy to Become a Comprehensive Shopping Platform

This expansion is part of Uber's strategy to develop Uber Eats into a comprehensive digital platform that meets various daily consumer needs, not just food orders. It aims to provide access to thousands of stores and products through a unified and fast shopping experience. The company explained that users can browse and purchase products from participating stores across various US states, with the option for immediate delivery or scheduled delivery according to their needs. Uber One subscribers also continue to enjoy additional benefits, including free delivery on eligible retail orders, along with a range of services designed to enhance the digital shopping experience.

Boosting Product and Brand Diversity

These new partnerships add a wider range of products to the platform. Academy Sports + Outdoors offers a diverse selection of sports goods and equipment in several US states, while Blick Art Materials allows customers to access art and craft products and creative tools. Choice Pet is expected to join soon to expand pet supply options, while FedEx Office provides a variety of office tools, business supplies, and packaging that meet the needs of individuals and businesses. Kiehl’s also supports Uber's expansion into the beauty and personal care sector by making skin, hair, and body care products available through the platform, further diversifying the categories available to consumers. The company confirmed that these additions are part of a broader plan to invest in new retail sectors, joining a network of major brands already on the platform, such as Sephora, The Home Depot, Best Buy, and others. Uber revealed that since the beginning of 2026, it has added thousands of new retail locations across the United States as part of its efforts to solidify its position as a comprehensive platform for on-demand delivery services. Hashem Amin, Head of Retail for North America at Uber, stated that users are increasingly relying on Uber Eats for diverse needs beyond meals, noting that adding this new group of stores gives customers access to a wider variety of products easily and quickly. He added that the expansion also creates additional opportunities for brands to reach customers through more flexible digital channels, supporting their business growth and enhancing the e-commerce shopping experience. Users can take advantage of these services through the “Retail” section within the Uber Eats app, or through the “Shops” section in the Uber app, where they can select a local store, add products to their cart, choose the delivery type, and track their order until it arrives.
