Uber's Big Leap: From Ride-Hailing to AI-Powered Travel & Shopping Platform

Uber is looking to redefine its app's role beyond just a ride-hailing service by bringing together travel and shopping services into one platform. In its latest moves, the company has launched hotel booking services, boat rentals in Europe, and personal shopping. This expansion comes alongside increased use of artificial intelligence and boosted investments in self-driving vehicles. Uber explained that about 1.5 billion trips annually on its platform happen outside the cities where users live. This insight has pushed the company to expand the services available within the app to meet travelers' needs from a single point. New additions include hotel booking services in partnership with Expedia, along with solutions for mobility, delivery, and shopping, all designed to offer a more integrated experience for users while traveling.
