Talabat Mart Gears Up for Major Egypt Expansion with 1,000 New Products and Fresh Food Innovation

Talabat Mart is looking to really boost its presence in the Egyptian market. They've got an ambitious plan to develop 1,000 private-label products over the next three years, a move that clearly shows the company's drive to make its brand a key competitive player in the e-commerce sector.

Mohamed Sekina, General Manager of Talabat Mart in Egypt, mentioned that these new products will include essential food items like sugar, rice, and oil, along with cleaning supplies and ready-to-eat meals. Currently, the platform offers about 200 Talabat-branded products.

Sekina explained that developing each product takes around six months, going through careful stages like selecting suppliers and rigorous quality testing to ensure top-notch products at competitive prices. He also emphasized the company's focus on improving the quality of fresh produce by building a strong network of suppliers and farmers, which will boost customer trust in their fresh items.

Innovation and Fresh Product Preparation

As part of its innovative strategy, Talabat announced the pilot launch of its first specialized center for processing and cutting cheeses and preparing salads. This 500-square-meter facility is located in Nasr City and is a collaboration with major manufacturers like Halwani Bros. It's set to open after the Eid al-Fitr holiday, reflecting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality fresh products with advanced operational processes.

Geographic Spread

This initiative is part of a broader expansion plan aimed at increasing geographic reach and boosting investments in the Egyptian market. They're doing this by developing infrastructure and expanding their portfolio of private-label products.

Currently, Talabat Mart services are available in 12 governorates. They expect to expand to three more governorates this year, bringing their total coverage to 15. The company also plans to expand into cities like Shebin El Kom, Suez, Minya, Benha, and Damanhour.

Sekina noted that Talabat currently operates 60 "dark stores" (fulfillment centers) and aims to open an additional 20, reaching 80 branches before the end of 2026. This number could even go up to 90 branches if market growth rates continue.

Investments and Strong Infrastructure

Talabat is also heavily focused on strengthening its supply chain and distribution infrastructure. They've announced a $100 million investment across eight markets in the Middle East, with Egypt being a top priority. This includes building a new 22,000-square-meter distribution center within the "Yanbu East" complex on the Suez Road to bolster their supply and distribution network.

Sekina confirmed that Talabat Egypt has seen continuous growth over the past 40 months, showing the increasing demand for fast e-commerce services. Meanwhile, the company is studying the impact of rising fuel prices on operating costs to ensure the service remains sustainable and high-quality.
