The Saudi Cultural Fund has just announced the launch of the new corporate identity for its fashion fund, now called ZYA! This makes ZYA the very first private equity fund exclusively focused on the fashion sector in Saudi Arabia, and it's all happening in partnership with Merak Capital. The fund is quite substantial, with a size of around SAR 300 million. The Saudi Cultural Fund is contributing 40% of the total capital, while Merak Capital will be managing and operating the fund. This setup cleverly combines investment funding with operational expertise to really boost the sector's growth. ZYA aims to invest across the entire fashion industry value chain. This means everything from design and manufacturing to supply chains, e-commerce, and even the beauty sector. A big focus is on empowering local brands and helping them expand their reach both regionally and globally. The launch of this fund really shows a growing trend towards blending creative industries with the digital economy, especially with e-commerce playing an ever-bigger role in fashion. This will definitely create exciting new opportunities for startups and emerging brands in the Saudi market. The fund also wants to build a complete ecosystem that supports innovation and sustainability. It aims to make the fashion sector more attractive to investors, which is part of Saudi Arabia's bigger plan to diversify its economy and develop new knowledge- and creativity-based sectors. To kick things off, the fund's first board meeting was held, chaired by Hamed Fayez, the Vice Minister of Culture. The board includes a fantastic mix of local and international experts, such as Majid Al Hogail, Abdullah Al Tamami, Burak Cakmak, and Ravi Thakran. This diverse expertise is key to guiding the fund and achieving its investment goals.
