Organizations are facing a new era of cybersecurity challenges as 'Q-Day' approaches. This is the day when quantum computers will be powerful enough to break traditional encryption systems. Experts expect this shift to happen between 2028 and 2030, which is why they're calling for organizations to start preparing now, rather than waiting for the threat to become a reality. Cybersecurity experts emphasized that the rapid advancements in quantum computing and artificial intelligence are forcing a change in how organizations handle digital risks. It's not just about buying new security solutions; it's about redesigning protection strategies, strengthening governance, and building specialized human capabilities. These insights came during a seminar titled "Towards a Secure Future in the Era of AI and Quantum Computing," organized by the EiTESAL association. Participants included Engineer Mahmoud Tawfik, Founder and CEO of Fixed Investment Group, and Engineer Sameh Zaghloul, Head of Technology and Innovation at Fixed Solutions. They discussed the future of cybersecurity amidst rapid technological transformations. Participants stressed the importance of organizations adopting a "Zero Trust" model. They also highlighted the need for a comprehensive quantum readiness assessment, identifying assets and systems that rely on current encryption technologies, and developing gradual transition plans towards solutions that can better withstand future threats.
