Global company Plug and Play, in collaboration with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the National Bank of Egypt, has announced that applications are now open for the seventh batch of the Plug and Play Cairo program. This marks the first global acceleration program of its kind in Egypt. This new launch comes at a time of significant growth in Egypt's technology and entrepreneurship sectors, with an increasing focus on innovation powered by Artificial Intelligence. This aligns perfectly with the direction of Plug and Play's global centers of excellence in the AI field. The program runs for three months and aims to support startups from their early stages all the way through to growth. It operates on a completely free funding model, meaning no fees or equity are taken, which makes the program highly appealing to both local and regional startups. The program also aims to strengthen Egypt's position as a regional hub for innovation and entrepreneurship across the Middle East and Africa. It does this by empowering companies with access to advanced development tools and global investment networks. The program features two main tracks, depending on the startup's development stage. The first track is the Product Development (MVP) track, designed for early-stage companies. To qualify, startups need a testable prototype, initial market validation indicators, and a dedicated founding team. No prior revenues or funding rounds are required for this track. The second track is the Growth / Revenue Generating track, which is for companies that already have an established product in the market, are generating revenue, or show strong indicators of demand. These companies also need a dedicated founding team, and there's no requirement for them to be actively seeking funding at the moment. Participants in the program receive a range of benefits, including specialized workshops on financial management and product development, direct networking opportunities with local and international investors, and the chance to build strategic partnerships with major corporations. They also get mentorship from expert specialists in technology and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the program provides workspaces within "Creativa" centers, along with technical advantages like services and support from global companies such as AWS and HubSpot. This significantly boosts the startups' ability to grow and expand. The launch of this new batch underscores the ongoing commitment to strengthening Egypt's innovation environment and supporting startups as key drivers of economic growth in the coming phase.
