It's official! Masood Mohammed Sharif, who was the CEO of e& UAE, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the entire Emirati telecommunications giant, e& Group. This exciting change comes after the former CEO, Hatem Dowidar, stepped down after six years at the helm. Masood's new role kicks off on April 1st, as announced in a statement from the group. Masood Mohammed Sharif brings a wealth of experience to his new position, boasting an impressive 25-year track record across the telecommunications and investment sectors. This extensive background truly makes him one of the most prominent Emirati leaders in this dynamic field. At 46 years old, Sharif has been serving as the CEO of e& UAE since 2021. During his time there, he led significant efforts to develop networks, enhance digital services, and expand the group's operations both within the UAE and across the wider region. Before his role at e& UAE, Masood Sharif held the position of Vice President of the ICT Investment sector at Mubadala Investment Company, starting in 2011. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing assets and overseeing the company's investments in the telecommunications and information technology sector, which included major players like Yahsat and Du. Sharif's professional journey began way back in 2000 with several prominent government roles. He was a key member of the founding team for the Executive Office of the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Later, he transitioned to the Department of Finance for the Government of Abu Dhabi, where he served as the Director General of Financial and Strategic Affairs, playing a crucial role in shaping financial and strategic policies for the nation's vital sectors. In 2012, Sharif took on the role of Deputy CEO at Yahsat, and by 2013, he was appointed as the company's CEO. During his leadership, he oversaw the development of advanced satellite communication services and significantly boosted the company's presence in the regional market. Masood Mohammed Sharif's appointment as CEO of e& Group truly highlights the company's strong focus on sustainability, driving digital growth, and ensuring the continuous execution of strategic plans. These efforts are all aimed at further solidifying e& Group's position as one of the leading telecommunications companies in the entire region.
