A recent study by Jalal & Karawi Management Consulting, in partnership with Orient Planet Group, has revealed some exciting news: the video game industry is now the biggest sector for consumer spending on digital media in the Middle East! It has even surpassed video streaming and digital music services combined, capturing a whopping 63.2% of total spending in key markets like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The study also showed that total spending on video games is expected to hit around $2.52 billion in 2024. To put that in perspective, video-on-demand services are at $1.16 billion, and music is at $306.7 million. This highlights how games are really boosting digital consumer behavior and fueling the creative economy through things like character design, storytelling, digital marketing, and managing virtual communities.
