The 'How We Tech' summit, the first regional pioneering technology summit in the region, kicked off to shine a light on how companies and organizations are running their operations with technology as a core driver. The summit took place in 5 District, Cairo. The summit was held under the patronage of Vodafone Egypt and co-led with Engineerex. It brought together a select group of senior technology and business executives in Egypt for high-level discussions on the pivotal role of technology at the heart of modern organizations. Under the theme "Technology Unbound: Stories That Were Not Meant to Be Told," the summit moved away from traditional conference models. It focused on real-world operational experiences rather than theoretical narratives, offering executive dialogues and practical presentations on integrating technology as a primary business driver, not just a supporting function. The closed-door nature of the summit also provided a space for candid conversations rarely found in public forums. The partnership between Vodafone Egypt and Engineerex reflects their commitment to supporting technology leaders across various sectors, while highlighting the growing role of digital transformation and infrastructure leaders in enabling large-scale changes. The summit opened with a speech by Naglaa Qenawi, HR Vice President at Vodafone Egypt, who set the stage for discussions focusing on leadership, human capital, and the human element in the digital transformation journey. This was followed by a keynote presentation from Catalin Buliga, Technology Vice President at Vodafone Egypt, who showcased Vodafone's transformation journey, explaining how AI and IoT technologies were integrated into its infrastructure, helping the company evolve from a traditional telecom operator into a technology-driven organization. **A Distinguished Leadership Session** The summit featured a key panel discussion that brought together Mahmoud El Khatib, Business Vice President at Vodafone Egypt; Myrna Aref, General Manager for Emerging Markets in the Middle East and Africa; Marwa Abbas, General Manager and Head of Technology at IBM Egypt; and Omar El Sahy, General Manager of Amazon Egypt. They aimed to identify early indicators paving the way for major technological transformations. In another leadership session moderated by Mahmoud Fahmy, Co-founder and CEO of Engineerex, participants included Ahmed El Sewedy, CEO of El Sewedy Electric; Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum; and Nabil Amasha, Co-founder and CEO of Places & People. This session discussed how industrial and infrastructure-intensive organizations transition from operational expansion to adopting intelligence-driven strategies and managing physical assets through integrated digital systems. The summit also hosted senior leaders from multiple sectors, creating a platform for direct exchange between technology developers and the organizations implementing these technologies on the ground. This solidified 'How We Tech's' position as a new platform for applied technology leadership in the Middle East and North Africa region.
