Eng. Raafat Hendy, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, highlighted the importance of developing specialized educational content in cybersecurity and modern technologies. He also emphasized using Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to support the educational process and help students gain advanced learning skills.
During his meeting with Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansua, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Hendy pointed out the ministry's keenness to boost joint cooperation. The goal is to build and expand the human skill base in areas like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and emerging technologies. This effort aims to support the competitiveness of the communications and information technology sector, contribute to the growth of the digital economy, and increase the sector's contribution to the national GDP.
Digital Transformation
The Minister explained that achieving this goal isn't just about developing training and qualification curricula. It also includes implementing digital transformation within Egyptian universities, alongside providing an environment that supports innovation and applying its outcomes across various sectors.
He stressed that technology is a pivotal element in shaping the future of higher education in Egypt. This is done by designing technical study programs according to international standards, ensuring that educational courses are linked to the actual needs of the job market.
Building Technical Capabilities for Academic Staff
The Minister of Communications directed the Information Technology Institute (ITI) to start implementing programs for building the technical capabilities of university faculty members. The aim is to enhance the efficiency of the educational process and develop academic staff.
Hendy emphasized that the Ministry of Communications, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, is working to strengthen Egypt's position as a regional hub for technological education. This involves attracting prestigious international universities and supporting the global competitiveness of Egyptian graduates.
Joint Projects
Both sides reviewed a set of joint projects aimed at supporting innovation and developing digital infrastructure. These include digitizing the electronic examination system, developing digital infrastructure in university hospitals, and implementing advanced research projects in various scientific fields.
The meeting also covered expanding training programs by integrating technical training programs into university curricula. This builds on the successful cooperation experience with Cairo University in entrepreneurship, which strengthens the link between education and the needs of the job market.
