Dr. Ahmed Rustom, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, announced during a big meeting with leaders from the National Investment Bank and NI Capital that the current phase requires the bank to transform into a strategic development partner. This partnership will focus on supporting sectors that have the biggest impact on economic growth. The Minister directed a re-prioritization of investment programs to focus on three main tracks. The first is supporting regional development by boosting economic clusters in different governorates. The goal is to turn development projects into productive engines that support local value chains, which perfectly aligns with the presidential initiative "Hayah Karima" (Decent Life). The second track is financing the innovation economy and startups. This involves expanding the bank's role and its investment platforms to support entrepreneurship and fund new companies. It will provide flexible financing tools for innovative projects, empowering entrepreneurs to turn promising ideas into scalable businesses and create quality job opportunities, ultimately boosting our knowledge-based economy. And finally, the third track is financing sustainable infrastructure. This means developing innovative ways to fund infrastructure and logistics projects. This approach will speed up the implementation of vital projects and attract both local and foreign investments without adding extra burden to the national budget. Dr. Ahmed Rustom also highlighted NI Capital's important role in developing investment tools and encouraging more private sector involvement in financing development projects that promise good returns. This will help the Egyptian economy attract long-term funding for strategic projects. During the meeting, everyone agreed that combining the Ministry's planning policies with the bank's investment arms is crucial. This integration will create a modern development finance system, capable of supporting major projects and achieving sustainable growth, which will directly improve the quality of life for all citizens.
