The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the launch of a new smart mobile application. This move aims to boost digital transformation in the preventive medicine sector and provide more efficient and accessible health services to citizens, all as part of the state's efforts to achieve the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.
Spreading Health Awareness
Major General Amr Ayed, Assistant Minister of Health for Digital Transformation, explained that the app represents a significant leap forward in spreading health awareness. It does this by offering reliable and simplified scientific content, helping citizens learn about preventive services, find the nearest health facilities, and providing direct communication channels to boost community health literacy.
Developing Digital Health Systems
This announcement came during a large meeting held by Dr. Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, with representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Health and Population Information Center. Key ministry leaders and information infrastructure experts were also present to review the progress of digital transformation systems in the health sector.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, added that the meeting discussed the development of several digital systems. These include the registration of births and deaths, the routine vaccination system, rabies prevention centers, and of course, the new electronic application.
Automating Services
The registration of births and deaths has been automated in about 5,000 health facilities across the country. This has helped provide accurate indicators to support decision-makers through the “Population Clock” and achieve effective integration between government databases via the digital converter. This, in turn, helps rationalize resources and update beneficiary data.
The digital vaccination system has also made significant progress. Approximately 18 million text messages have been sent to remind parents about vaccination appointments, and 345 vaccination centers nationwide have been automated and electronically linked. This ensures accurate data recording and quick follow-up on cases.
The Ministry of Health and Population affirmed its ongoing commitment to accelerating digital transformation within the health sector. This effort supports the development of preventive and awareness services, solidifies reliance on data for decision-making, and enhances the quality of services provided to citizens across the entire country.
