Dr. Hussein Issa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with a delegation from Huawei, led by Benjamin Hu, CEO of Huawei Egypt. They discussed the company's plans to expand in the Egyptian market, boost cooperation in telecommunications and information technology, digital transformation, technology localization, and building digital capabilities.

Egyptian-Chinese Relations Boost Tech Investments

Hussein Issa emphasized the deep and strong Egyptian-Chinese relations, which are seeing rapid development across various fields under the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that economic and investment ties are a key pillar of this partnership, showing significant growth in recent years, reflecting mutual trust and increasing interest from Chinese companies in the Egyptian market. He praised Huawei's role in the Egyptian market and its contributions to implementing many major projects and digital infrastructure initiatives. This shows the company's confidence in the Egyptian economy and helps support the state's efforts to build a modern digital economy capable of keeping up with global developments.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs affirmed the government's keen interest in boosting cooperation with Huawei. Issa stressed the importance of localizing technology and transferring knowledge to the Egyptian market, along with expanding training and qualification programs for national cadres. This will help prepare new generations of skilled professionals for the job market, increase employment opportunities, and boost technology industries. Huawei: We've Been in Egypt Since 2000, Created Over 3,000 Jobs

For its part, the Huawei delegation showcased the company's global activities, work areas, products, and services. They confirmed that Huawei has been operating in the Egyptian market since 2000, with three branches and four global service centers. The company has contributed to creating over 3,000 job opportunities, in addition to its Huawei ICT Academies system for capacity building, as part of its contribution to developing digital skills and qualifying Egyptian youth. The delegation explained that the company's areas of work include telecommunications networks, business and enterprise solutions, cloud computing, digital energy, and smart devices. They emphasized that Huawei is a strategic partner for the Egyptian state in implementing digital transformation projects by providing advanced technological solutions, including secure national networks, cloud data centers, and supporting smart education projects, digital healthcare, and the digital transformation of industrial sectors.
